The Chilling Effect

film still of performer face palming into steering object

Performance view: The Chilling Effect (still), 2019, ISCP,
Brooklyn, NY. HD video, sound, 8:14 minutes, English subtitles.

The Chilling Effect is a solo performance
comprising monologue, audio recordings,
written text, and contact with a steering
object and dowel rod. Along with a robotic
vacuum, and a brick which has been
fastened to some rope.

It is a work built around a chorus of voices
representing the fractured conditions of
civic life in the United States, and the ways
in which its performer and narrator comes
to understand their involvement in this state
of affairs.
